Hello again 5/6 science families,
I hope you are doing well! We are working on matter in science, because it matters! This is the beginning of chemistry for students...the beginning of a spark of interest in the science fields involving chemistry...the beginning of curiosity to learn more about the states of matter...a positive experience for science. We want our children to love science, right? I get excited when they bring in a nature specimen to share or relate to me a science show that they watched or tell me about something they noticed in the night's sky. We are surrounded by SCIENCE! We are responsible for the world we live in and the world we will leave to our children.
If you think about it, please have a conversation with your child about Arizona and what we can do to help out our environment/habitat/biome in the desert. Can you donate your time somewhere? Have you traveled our great state to learn more about Arizona? Think along the lines of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Are these three words part of your daily life? Our resources will not always be available to us. And yes, I do believe one person can make a difference.
We are learning about BizTown in our first hour of each day. We are talking about citizen, communities, trade, business, rights, responsibilities, economies, markets, supply & demand, scarcity, and more topics will come up. We have 20 lessons we are teaching, we have 5 lessons being taught by classroom volunteers, and Intel came in today. The students enjoyed learning about making a good product, finding efficient ways to make a product, working with others, relying on other people to bring you your resources, etc. It was a fun and busy day!
