Hello 5/6 Families,

We have begun our Human Body Unit!  Both 5th and 6th graders will be learning/reviewing the systems of the body.  Nervous, Muscular, Skeletal, Circulatory, Digestive, and Respiratory.

5th Grade -
--Research Groups and constructing a Life Size Model of the Human Body.
--Students divided up the tasks for these systems: brain/nervous, respiratory, circulatory, digestive, skeletal, muscular.  Each student is responsible for one of these systems.
--Each student conducts research on their system, summarizes how their system works in a minimum of 5 complete sentences, and includes a minimum of 5 interesting facts.
--Each student also includes an illustration.
--All the students in each group must have this information on the same size paper so the papers can be combined to create a book.
--All students have the task sheet to refer to for their poster and for their personal portion.
--The answers to the study guide are included under the W on their cohort under academics on my weebly.

6th Grade - Medical Clinics
Students are divided into medical clinics during their science class.  Each student is considered a medical doctor and they are now working on their specialty.  Each clinic is responsible for creating their Medical Clinic Sign - including all Dr. names, specialty, name of clinic, and colors included.  A slogan or personally designed art work is encouraged!  The areas of specialty:
Pulmonologist, Cardiologist, Orthopedic Surgeon, Gastroenterologist, Neurologist, and Infectious Disease.
--Each student is responsible for learning his specialty and passing a 10 point board exam scoring an 8 or higher.
--Each student creates a 3D model for their specialty following directions on their information sheet.
--Each student creates an illustration for their specialty following directions on their info sheet.
--Each student shares and teaches this information to their medical clinic.
--Every student in the medical clinic is required to pass a Physiology Test and score 80% or higher.
--Once every student has passed the Board Exam and Physiology Test, the medical clinic will receive several patient cases to review and problem solve.
--Each medical clinic will present their findings to the other medical clinics.
